This is another toss-up. There are three:
1. The Café Azafrán Haricots Verts (with toasted hazelnuts and gorgonzola) on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.
2. Those are neck ‘n' neck with the Sauteed String Beans at Confucius on Wilmington Avenue.
3. A late contender (my fault for not trying them) is the fried string beans at Woody's Dewey Beach Grill. Crispy. Crunchy. With a hint of heat.
4. Another sleeper is the relatively new Theo's Steaks, Sides & Spirits in downtown Rehoboth. Their tempura-fried green beans are wonderful. Order two orders for a crowd. They disappear quickly.
Try them all! Life is short.
I heartily concur with your inclusion of Confucius on this list!
I haven’t had the string beans at Cafe azafran in a couple of years, but when I had them they were so over done with Gorgonzola that I could hardly eat them because the Gorgonzola made them so salty. If that’s them now in the picture you included, I would be much more inclined to order them again.
Bethany Blues Lewes has a lovely fresh steamed green bean side but I will admit that sometimes they are even more Al Dente than I prefer.
Had the string beans at both and they are very different and both exceptional!!!
I haven’t had the green beans at Cafe Azafran yet; however, the ones at Confucius are addictive~~they eat like candy!!
