The Smashmouth Burger Bus has moved on from La Vida's Big Chill Surf Cantina on Coastal Highway, and a brand new concept is dishin' up some good food there. Former GM of Salted Vines Vineyard and Winery, local oyster shucker (and hot dog connoisseur) Preston Russell and Chef Mike Rodowicz have opened the Changing Mains Truck at Big Chill! Some of you might remember Mike when he served as sous chef at the Wilmington Iron Hill Brewery.
The menu is definitely truck-centric, featuring wings, chicken sammies, tacos, burgers, dogs more soon-to-be-announced comfort foods. The old Liquid Surfboard Shop next to the truck is now a sit-down dining area, so it's no more just about carryout or noshing at the Big Chill Bar (not that there's anything wrong with that!).
Current hours are 4 – 11pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 11pm on Sundays. Those hours will change as we approach the 2024 season.
