It's been a long time since I posted the arrival of Sticky Rice in Lewes, and I am happy to say that Sticky Rice is finally OPEN at 1604 Savannah Road near Capriotti's in Lewes Plaza. Thai-style tapas including curry dishes can be ordered with any of several proteins.
In spite of the continued financial and emotional stress being foisted upon our restaurants, owners Sawanya and Mickey Conway finally turned the key in early July. Sawanya immigrated to the U.S. from Thailand almost 20 years ago, and was part of the long-gone Seaside Thai restaurant where the Hearn family's Country Squire restaurant used to be, and where Semra's Mediterranean Grill now stands. After that she worked at Tokyo Steakhouse in Lewes.
Micky hails from Hawaii, and the two of them work closely with their cook Moneire Maye. Thai-style tapas are the theme there. Currently it is only carryout. There is no official online menu, but scroll through the gallery to see menu photos. The inside is simple but attractive. Scroll through the gallery to see some pics.
Those who have already tried this VERY wallet-friendly spot comment on the Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao. Again – your choice of chicken shrimp, veggie, tofu, pork and of course, beef. Appetizers are also offered and include various rolls and stir-fry rice dishes. Desserts include a Thai egg custard called Sangkaya or a mango-infused rice dish. Thai tea is the popular drink.
Check them out on Facebook HERE. Carryout may be had by calling 302-703-2673.
We love the food here. Tastes like the Thai food we first fell in love with. The spice is real and not watered down!
