It's sad to see the demolition of the iconic building at the corner of 2nd & Wilmington in downtown Rehoboth Beach. It was the home to Nancy Wayson's amazing Chez La Mer, as well as the ill-fated Cabo, SoDel Concepts' Papa Grande's, the bright and cheery Azzurro Italian Oven, then Unwined at the Beach and JAM Bistro for a very short time before they moved to the old Coho spot on Rehoboth Avenue. Long before all that, the Wilmington Avenue part of the building served as the Rehoboth Beach jail.
Everything must change. Nothing stays the same. Onward & upward.

So sad to see that wonderful old cottage go. I have so many happy memories of Chez La Mer and Nancy.
Wow…We used to stay at the Oceanus every year and we’ve seen so many different restaurants take over this spot. Ate at Jam last September and it was fabulous. I’m excited to see what’s coming next, though.
