Salt Air & The Bees 12/11

/ Updated on December 11, 2014

I got a nice email from Karen Clayton from Bacchus Importers. I met her at the Eden Cider dinner at Michy's that I wrote about a few weeks ago.

On Thursday, Dec. 11th, she'll be at Salt Air at 7 p.m. for a multi-course “Get the Spirit Dinner.” $55 p/p gets it all. Call 302-227-3744 after 12 noon for reservations. I will let her tell you more:

“Bob, You do such a wonderful job at keeping everyone informed of the food scene in Rehoboth! Thank you for the lovely article you wrote for the Cape Gazette.

“I wanted to let you know that I am hosting another dinner at Salt Air on December 11th with Caledonia Spirits. Todd Hardy, a beekeeper who resided in the suburbs of Baltimore, literally followed his bees to Vermont, where he was inspired to distill spirits from the grains he and his family grow and incorporate his bees' honey into the finished spirits. We will be featuring his Barr Hill Gin (very popular here at many restaurants in town and finer wine & spirit shops), Barr Hill Vodka, a unique Elderberry Cordial, & a pre-Prohibition style gin that he calls ‘Tom Cat'.

“I will begin the evening with a sparkling reception cocktail as guests arrive at 6:30pm. Dinner will be served at 7pm. I have chosen to serve a small portion of each spirit neat, as well as in a handcrafted cocktail designed to pair specifically with each course. Microshiner, a publication that focuses on handcrafted, artisan spirits, has asked permission to photoshoot the food & cocktails. Bin 66 is the retail partner for this event. Thanks again for keeping our community informed of how fortunate we are to have the talented folks in the hospitality business in our area.

“Cheers! Karen Clayton, Wine & Spirits Consultant Bacchus Importers Ltd.”

Thanks for the heads up, Karen..
