Lisa DiFebo is the Energizer Bunny. There. I said it. She has kept her Bethany Beach mainstay in business for over 20 years, and added a popular location in Rehoboth Beach several years ago. Her dad still whips up the “Bob's Tomato Sauce” that is used in many of the dishes served in Bethany and Rehoboth Beaches.
You can now buy that sauce – and a lot of other things – to take home at Lisa's brand new DiFebo's Market, directly across from DiFebo's Bethany on Rt. 26 in Bethany. It used to be the Shore Stop.
Though there are a lot of Italian goodies available in there (DO NOT MISS her soft brie and sopressata pizza drizzled with honey!), Lisa isn't going for an exclusively Italian deli. There are panini sandwiches served hot off the press, there are fresh pastries (including pizzelles make on her grandma's antique pizzelle press!), prepared foods for grab and go, along with basic groceries from mayo to spices to pasta to Sriracha. Scroll through the gallery so see some of the products.
On my first visit, I was treated to that brie/sopressata pie and had the pleasure of meeting Blair Cherico, noted beekeeper (and Realtor) who packages and sells “Local's Honey.” We also split a broccoli raab panini sandwich. The open-flame domed oven is sort of the centerpiece of the place, crisping up all sorts of tasty items. You can see the whole story ON THEIR WEBSITE.
There are 4 choices of breakfast sammies (get the pepper and egg!), and 10 panini choices. Keep in mind these are made fresh every day, so some of the more popular ones might not be there later in the day. Lisa offers a choice of 10 12″ brick oven pizzas including a cauliflower crust version. See the great photos in the gallery!
By the way… before you check out, grab a container of Pizzicati Italian Pinch Cookies! You can thank me later. See them in the gallery.
