Pit & Pub (Ocean City)

/ Updated on August 14, 2021

Pit & Pub is an informal, noisy upbeat and fun place – typical of so many of Ocean City's small bars/eateries – that happens to have some particularly good items on the menu! Partners Steve Hoffman and Mike Horsey have had quite a bit of success with their BBQ-centric watering holes that they now have three locations: the one we visited at 28th St. and Coastal Highway, one farther north at 127th and one in Salisbury at 1147 South Salisbury Blvd.

Their app menu is one of the biggest I've ever seen. Stars of the app show include the 1/2 lb rib app (perfect amount for a food writer who wants to try the ribs but also needs to try other stuff too), the candied bacon with fried cornbread (!) on a bed of tots and the brisket tacos folded nicely with peppers, onions, tomatoes and, of course, cheese.

There are 19 sandwiches from which to choose! My go-to on the first visit to a place like this is always the pulled pork sandwich. Like many places, it is in fact shredded pork, but it is very well-spiced and perfectly smokey. Other BBQ sandwiches are the brisket and chicken. The 12 entrees include their signature chicken pot pie. It arrives with a huge square of nicely browned puff pastry atop their chicken and veggie mix in a tasty bechamel sauce. See it in the photo gallery!

We plan to go back and I'll post more pics. Service was quite good with bar & kitchen people chipping in when things got busy.

See their entire menu and other good photos at their website!
