JD Shuckers is under new ownership! Former partner Jamie Davis has teamed up with former bartender Strohm Edwards. Their plans include more fresh seafood–one of The Foodie's gripes about the place before it was sold. We'll see how that goes.
The entertainment will continue, with a DJ on Thursdays and live music on Saturdays. The Foodie is planning a new review. In the meantime, take a look at the menu here.

Come here often and always enjoy. Currently they have a prime rib special on Tuesday nights that is a real bargain at $12 for Queen cut and $15 for King. Crab cakes are for nice also. Love their green beans!
Always feels like a “Cheers” bar to me.
We stopped for lunch April 14, 2013 around 1p.m. My husband and I stood there waiting for someone to seat us. There was only one table taken. There was no one else there except a couple of people at the bar. We were ignored. We waited for 5 minutes then walked out. The bartender, the waitress and a man that shucked oysters saw us but never came over to us. We will never go there again.
have been a frequent customer – went there this past Sunday evening for dinner was met by the rudest hostess ever – told us we had a 30-40 minute wait (there were 3 tables open) the wait was not the real problem but her terrible attitude was! there were 5 of us who would have ordered dinner and in this economy you think that your hostess might have been a little more understanding by perhaps offering us a seat , a menu, a drink order but nOTHING – just about said to us get out of here – lost customer – i have been living in baywood for the past few years and enjoyed especially your oysters on thursday but you just lost some customers because of a VERY RUDE hostess
We love it here! Almost every weekend when we’re down we stop in for lunch or supper, and try to catch the singer for awhile. The beer is cold and the TVs always have some sports on to enjoy. The beach is laid back, so if we have to wait an extra 10 minutes we just talk to other patrons and drink another beer!
Always had a good meal there. I personally enjoyed the entertainment and enjoy the friendliness of the bartenders there. And great atmosphere.
had dinner on sat 4/2012 the only good thing was the beer. flounder dinner was not flounder. crab cake were terrible and had to pay extra for sweet potato fries – they were soggy and not hot was not told they were $2.00 more. Al
Hey…I want to see people succeed…We loved the Old Shuckers…nice wait staff and the early birds really brought us in..and also many of our visitors. However, on certain nights it was “literally painful”…the noise hurt…there was one entertainer who was both over the top loud…and appeared to many in the restaurant…Drunk. When we go to Shuckers we hold our breath that we won’t be exposed to the painful noises that totally prevent conversation..and really trash the ambience.
Good luck…we’d like to come more often the early birds, and entertainment that is more respectful will keep bringing us back!
