Cocolo Sushi: Sneak Peek

/ Updated on April 27, 2017

Kiyomi Yamanaka, aka, Chef Yama (former owner of Misaki in Bethany and former sushi chef at Flying Fish in Fenwick) has returned to Bethany Beach to open his new Cocolo Sushi spot at 776 Garfield Parkway, in the location formerly occupied by Kenny Nguyen's the now sadly closed Zen Saigon Vietnamese restaurant. The little storefront is directly across the street from Off the Hook restaurant and next to Wawa.

Don't miss some of the appetizer sides – the little fried chicken bites and the lettuce wraps are quite good, and the fried green beans are quite possibly the star of the appetizer show. Get them. Trust me. Chef Yama is very meticulous about his sushi presentation (see some photos in the gallery), so allow some time for your dishes to be prepared. The sushi bar is now part of the original bar, and it's fun to watch the master at work.

They are open Wed. – Sun. starting at 5. At the moment they are not taking reservs. Call them at 302-829-8784.

Follow Cocolo and Chef Yama on his rather sparse Facebook page.

This is one of the best sushi places at the beach! I never even liked sushi until I had it at Cocolo! Everything is so fresh and delicious. I’d give it the highest marks possible.

Great food…very fresh fish and delicious. Closed Sunday and Monday, opens 4:30 to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday. My family makes Cocolo a must visit when we travel to Bethany…innovative and reasonably priced.
