Grotto Buys Dolle’s Building

/ Updated on February 14, 2021

After 60 years of doing business here at the beach, Grotto Pizza has announced today that it has acquired the iconic corner Boardwalk building that used to house Dolle's. They have no specific plans for development, and are actually suggesting that interested parties contact Grotto at 302-227-3567. Grotto owns all the properties from that corner all the way to Baltimore Avenue, where their north Boardwalk store is located.

Dolle's is moving a few doors west to 9 Rehoboth Avenue, between Louie's Pizza and Thrasher's French Fries.

Grotto Founder and Owner Dominick Pulieri says that plans are to relocate the Baltimore Avenue Grotto location (north Boardwalk) to that Rehoboth Avenue/Boardwalk space. Grotto VP Jeff Gosnear is quoted as saying, “….looking through the lens of Grotto Pizza commercial development and expansion, we felt this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was extremely important to the organization. The Dolle's building is truly one of the most desirable properties in Delmarva and our team is looking forward to reconfiguring and outfitting the space to include a brand-new Grotto Pizza.”

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Dolle's sign!
