Peter Elias' SPAIN restaurant and wine bar is one of the most beautifully designed eateries in Ocean City. Perched high atop the new Cambria Hotel at the west end of St. Louis Avenue (13 St. Louis), it offers breathtaking views of the Rt. 50 drawbridge, the Ocean City Inlet, West Ocean City, the Inlet end of the boardwalk and even Assateague Island/State Park. That's all nice, but wait til you taste the food and the cocktails!

The restaurant is centered on an extensive tapas menu (around 32 – and they're ALL good). The charcuterie board selection is upwards of 16 different selections with some rather exotic cheeses. There are entrees, salads and soups also. One of the stars of the show at SPAIN is the bar program! Cocktails such as “Smoke on the Water” involve quite a tableside production. The drinks arrive beautifully decorated and are quite festive – especially for Ocean City!

We have been several times already, and highly recommend these small plates (assuming they are on the menu – it rotates seasonally): the meatballs, the pork belly (some of the best I've had), the empanadas, the shrimp with chilis, and the crab-stuffed peppers. Even the olive oil they serve with the bread is exceptional. Desserts include the olive oil cake (get it!) and the burnt cheesecake (sort of a take on the brulee cheesecake of 1776 fame, but served differently).

Peter Elias started out as more of a bar guy than a restaurant guy, but he has hit the jackpot with the food, the cocktails and the view. Note that the AMAZING artwork throughout the restaurant is created by his talented girlfriend. Weather permitting, the huge patio/bar is the place to be. Views extend almost 360 degrees, including the famous marina that hosts the White Marlin Tournament, most of West OC with all the huge yachts, and the amusement park at the end of the OC boardwalk.
