Station on Kings OPEN

/ Updated on September 11, 2022

Leisa Berlin of Edie Bee's Candy on Second St. in Lewes has opened the doors to The Station on Kings! The Station offers coffee, pastries and cafe fare, including a market stocked with unique kitchen wares, fresh local produce and specialty foods. By the time spring rolls around, they will also have an extensive garden center.

In May, 2016, Lewes businesswoman Leisa Berlin purchased the vacant lot near the railroad crossing where Kings Highway bears off into downtown Lewes (Rt. 268) for her 4,200-square-foot market, casual eatery and bakery. Berlin's son Chris McKeown and partners own Agave restaurants in Lewes and Rehoboth.

This is a fun little combo spot with shopping, lite fare, teas, coffees and tasty wines.

We had a fabulous dinner here tonight. I had halibut on a farro risotto with the most decadent rhubarb puree and spring peas in a lemon white sauce. My husband ordered the dry aged NY strip and I had a couple of pieces and the accompanying oyster mushrooms. Oh, My. God. It melted in your mouth. How, someone tell me how can a steak DO that? I have been preparing steak for 40 years…I give up…nothing close to this EVER. Silly to have ever second guessed his order The initial presentation gave me pause… it was already sliced but served intact, in a large bowl type plate. Since it cut with a butter knife, I got past that fast. The ala carte bread ($5) was worth it. As far as the dining room goes, we ate outside because it was a beautiful day and the restaurant is a beautiful setting. It was a holiday and yes this IS on Kings Highway but it was peaceful and lovely. Our server was adequate, very knowledgeable about the menu selections, but a little slow on noticing the drinks. The support servers were spot on attentive. Beer and wine only, and the water never goes long unfilled. Despite the rare sighting of a Pavlova (gasp!) on the dessert menu, we decided on frugality (after a $75 dinner) and grabbed a couple of delicious cookies to go for the bargain price of $2 each. I have had snacks and lunch here and can’t wait to return again for dinner. PS. Lewes, free parking and no long wait!

Food and coffee were excellent. Unfortunately, when the sun shines in gets quite hot in the seating area. Minor issue!

The lunch fare was delicious. Ricotta panini on cranberry walnut and a pork loin on a ciabatta roll with fresh greens and a mustard sauce. My husband and I traded halves! YUM! Lovely place and fun shopping too. A welcome addition to our Lewes! Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed my warm cup of chai and pasty this morning. The glass surround dining area with hanging plants is lovely.

Looks like it will be a grand station. I hope there will be enough parking to go around!
