Brickworks in Smyrna

/ Updated on May 14, 2016

You heard it here first, kids! The bar is in, a lot of stainless steel is on the way, and construction is well underway in Smyrna, Delaware!

Kevin Reading of Abbott's Grill in Milford has teamed up with Eric Williams and Ryan Maloney of Mispillion River Brewing Co. to open Brickworks Brewing & Eats in the Commodore Commons Shopping Center on Rt. 13 (former home of Casapulla's) in Smyrna, Delaware. The combination of Abbott's food and a 7-barrel system cranking out Eric's tasty brews (not to mention their great can/bottle artwork!) promises to be a slam dunk. Smyrna recently launched a booze jitney, the Delaware Brew Bus, that takes private groups to distilleries such as Blue Earl and Painted Stave.

With Painted Stave Distilling's operation, Willey Farm Market, Sheridan's Irish Pub,  Blue Earl Brewery and Abbott's/Mispillion's new venture (not to mention partners Howard Johnson and Donna Ignasz' rather upscale Inn at Duck Creek), I guess I'm going to have to add a “Smyrna/Townsend” category to RehobothFoodie.com.

We'll keep you posted. Opening of Brickworks is slated for early June.

The Classic Burger was ordered as medium, but arrived very well done. The waitress asked the manager to come to the table, which he did, and he offered my wife something different, but that timing on cooking another would not have worked with our schedule. I ordered the Fish & Chips. What I received was (2) very small cylindrical pieces of fried fish and a lot of fries. The fish were lightly fried and tastey, but I and doubt the fish totalled 6 ounces before frying. We will try Brickworks again as it was a Sunday night (tonight), but just be aware if your looking for Fish & Chips, don’t expect much for your $16.00.
