In the first of several comments made to RehobothFoodie.com by local restaurateurs, Jimmy O'Conor of Woody's Dewey Beach Bar & Grill has had to limit the sale of his famous crabcakes due to a shortage of quality crabmeat. “I could order lots of the inferior (and cheaper) stuff … I'm not going to do that,” O'Conor tells me.
In the meantime, he is limiting the number of crabcakes on his crabcake entree to one, and has suspended carryout of his ‘cook at home' crabcakes until further notice. There has also been a small price increase to offset the almost 100% increase in the cost of crabmeat over the past several months.
