Teitel Brothers was established in 1915. There are very few things that this jam-packed market does not have. Austrian-born brothers Jacob and Morris Teitel opened back in 1915 in a scant 900 sq. ft. space. Fourth-generation family/operators Gilbert Teitel and his sons Michael, Eddie and Jean are in there every day taking care of loyal customers who are willing wait in lines that often stretch three blocks during holiday times. What are they waiting for? Teitel Bros. sausages! Choose from sweet, hot, and cheese & parsley. The line moves quickly, however, and those delightful treats are well worth the wait.
If you show even the slightest interest in a particular cheese or fresh product (check out the olives!), they will happily slice a piece for you to taste. A long-time haven for lovers of Italian cookery, Teitel Brothers manages to stuff every possible ingredient for Italian cuisine into that tiny corner space.
