Cheryl and Garry Tilton’s popular Gilligan’s restaurant on the waterfront has expanded into Milton with great success. They opened for business in March 2019 and have been going strong ever since. They are located next to the car wash in the old rebuilt restaurant space just a block west of Po’Boys restaurant. It still has the classy austerity of the Lewes restaurant, and with a much larger bar. I have updated my original review of the place to include their Sunday brunch buffet. Check out the photo gallery.

The new spot still offers Cheryl Tilton's famous crab cakes, but that the atmosphere leans more toward gastropub, small plates and a large selection of crafts. A peek at the menu includes: a particularly delicious North Carolina shredded pork BBQ, fried ravioli, wings cooked in duck confit and bison burgers….. sounds pretty good, huh?

Two big values-added at Gilligan's in Milton is (1) the particularly wallet-friendly Sunday Brunch buffet (see some photos in the gallery!), and (2) regularly scheduled LIVE music in the bar every Saturday. One of the highlights of the music scene in Milton is when the band 2nd Time Around appears there. It's ALWAYS standing-room-only with lots of dancing. Ask me how I know.

Cheryl likes to feature different specials on the menu, so there will often be some surprises. One of my favorites (it was there … then it was gone) was the sloppy joe sandwich and the crispy fried chicken.

The space is quite big, with the bar somewhat separate from the dining room so if there is indeed live music in the bar, diners still can nibble in relative quiet. There's lots of FREE parking.

Gilligan's Bar & Grille is on Rt. 16 as you enter Milton. Just past Po'Boy's and across the street from The Backyard before you get to the Union St. light. Call for hours and entertainment info at 302-664-2874.

Worst service experience ever!!!!!!!!!!! I have been a bartender/server in the past and I am very forgiving when comes to service. My family and I went to this restaurant this evening I was offered one drink in an hour and a half. Watched 2 tables that arrived after my family get served their meals before my family even received a second drink. Sat waiting for our food for an hour never checked on and it was not busy, open tables all around. Rude server, not friendly in the least. Asked to speak to a manager and was told there was not one. Horrible overall experience.

I need to tell all that we ordered the bruschetta and it was nothing like foodie described. It was five tiny thin slices of French bread topped with small spatterings of some white cream sauce and equally small spattering of sun-dried tomato relish. It wasn’t bad but quite pedestrian. It was not warm either. Also, our deserts came out barely warm. When we told them, they took them back into the microwave, with the cream still on and then liquified. However, they took 15% off the entire check, which was quite a
nice gesture. Oh, and yes, the crab cake is quite unique and good.

We recently dined on the outside deck which offers a great canal view and very relaxing. They have for an appitizer, a crab like pita that has cheese baked on top and is out of this world & one can make a meal alone out of this. The roast beef sandwich was served on a pretzel roll and very enjoyable. The best part of dining was the homemade deserts if one has a sweet tooth. Overall great service, reasonably priced and nice place to eat & relax
