Indian Cuisine in Rehoboth!

/ Updated on May 12, 2017

You heard it first from the Rehoboth Foodie, kids! A traditional Indian restaurant is opening at 44 Rehoboth Avenue (where Dough Roller used to be). The sister restaurant to the very popular India restaurant in Annapolis, the new Indigo will offer all the traditional favorites we’ve been craving here at the beach.

Mr. Suraj Kumar came to Washington, D.C. from Punjab, India, first working in restaurants in New York, Austin, and Denver. Mr. Kumar and his wife Sudesh have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years, 12 of the most recent in Maryland. The Kumar family came to the Annapolis area in 1992 taking over the Indian restaurant on Main Street. Mr. Kumar’s son, Raghu, will keep a close eye on Indigo, the new Rehoboth location, to ensure that the food and service is up to their stellar Annapolis reputation.

They hope to open before Memorial Day. Keep an eye on RehobothFoodie.com for more details.

Take a look at the Annapolis restaurant website to get an idea of what’s going to happen here in Rehoboth.

Warms the cockles of my vegetarian heart! Not used to having CHOICES when I go out to eat around here. We have a group in our community who would take trips north specifically for Indian food. Much excitement here!

    And yes, Trader Joe’s next!

    • Ron says:

Yes! Trader Joe’s next!! Then Rehoboth can claim to truly be a Foodie destination with diversity in food choices.

In the meantime, there is a fabulous Indian buffet in Dover, at Flavor of India, across from Kohl’s on Rt. 13. Worth a trip up from the beach!

At last, as Brit I grew up on Curry and Chapatis.
Now I don’t have to make my own

As a New Jersey native I love Indian food. I have been in withdrawal for 12 years!!!!
    When are you opening???

  13. Bernard Reuter says:

    can’t wait…when is the opening?

  14. Bob Houck says:

Our prayers have finally been answered! We’ve been craving a local good Indian restaurant ever since moving down to Lewes just over a year ago and leaving behind all the fine Indian places we came to enjoy in the Princeton, N.J. area. Let’s hope the community gives its full support to this new endeavor. It should be a welcome addition to local restaurants offering a unique cuisine.
