Bogle: A Family Affair

/ Updated on May 31, 2014

Six generations of farming and grape growing and quality wines are two reasons why we like the Bogle family of wines. Their story is one of hard work, commitment to handcrafting, and sustainable winegrowing. Bogle Vineyards is situated along the Sacramento River in Clarksburg, California. Surrounding appellations include Lodi, Russian River Valley, and Sonoma, where some of the best wines in California are produced. The vineyards farm over 1,500 acres of wine grapes, overseen by thegrandchildren of Warren Bogle, who first planted wine grapes on their farm in 1968.

It’s hard to pick a favorite among the Bogle wines, but we love the 2010 Essential Red, a blend of California’s Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. Intense flavors of boysenberries and sweet cherries balance the vanilla from barrel aging in American and French oak. The finish is black licorice and spicy pipe tobacco.

Wine Spectator has deemed Bogle one of the “top 20 value brands in the world.” At $14.99, this “hot and jammy” winner might become your new everyday favorite. Our customers tell us they love it with BBQ ribs or chicken, medium spicy Mexican, or mac ‘n cheese.

Teller Wines also has in stock the Bogle Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Old Vine Zinfandel, and Petit Sirah Port.

The price range for the rest of the portfolio is $13.99 to $18.99.
