Planet X to be Eclipsed?

/ Updated on September 2, 2014

If hearings and applications with the City of Rehoboth Beach are successful (note the word IF), the Avenue Inn's second-tier of expansion will create additional rooms, new landscaping, revitalized sidewalks and an underground garage on the land where the iconic Planet X now stands. The project will also put the old Square One /Cafe Zeus / Yum-Yum / Shag / Atlantic Jazz Yard / Cypress structure out of its misery once and for all. Ever since La La Land founder Alison Blyth closed Yum Yum to open her successful Go Fish! and Go Brit! restaurants, that building has seen a parade of spectacular failures over the past few years.

Of course, the entire thing is still in the planning stages, but I suggest you hightail it over to Planet X while you still can for some of Justine's delightful cuisine and her unusual decor. I love the porch at dusk under the glow of the red lanterns! No word if she will reopen if this goes through, but we can always hope. Mmmm … those Vietnamese meatballs, rice bowls and anything with curry!
