Does it HAVE to be turkey?

/ Updated on December 25, 2014

Why not expand your yuletide horizons this year and have Christmas dinner at Rosenfeld's Jewish Deli in Ocean City? Or perhaps Confucius Gourmet Chinese in Rehoboth Beach? Think about how much fun it will be to tell your friends — and how much fun it will be to have a thin-sliced hot pastrami sandwich on fresh rye, slathered with thousand island, topped with slaw, with a big fat half-done pickle. Or an order of salt & Pepper shrimp, cold spicy noodles and a whole crispy bass.

Let's face it:It doesn't get much more Christmassy than that. Follow it up at Rosenfeld's with a slightly sweet and savory holishke (stuffed cabbage) and a black & white cookie, or maybe a plate of hot & savory chicken & shrimp fried rice at Confucius.

You can always have turkey during the mid-January doldrums when you'll appreciate it even more. Confucius and Rosenfeld's are both open Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Years Day. Call for exact hours (see links below). Shalom, y'all. And pass the soy sauce, please.

(If the nuns from St. Bernadette's could see me now…)
